You have been enrolled onto the MIA Membership scheme and Life Science Industry (LSI) National Credentialing Register. These have been set up to reassure healthcare providers that you are professionally competent and appropriately qualified to interact within healthcare settings and have patient safety at the centre of their values.
It is a mandatory requirement of MIA healthcare providers (which represent the majority of NHS Trusts) that MIA Members are also registered with the LSI National Credentialing Register.
You will need to determine which Tier of the LSI National Credentialing Register is most appropriate for your role and provide evidence of relevant training before applying to the LSI. Your MIA Membership includes access to the online training courses required to meet any of the LSI National Credentialing Register standards but depending on your chosen Tier, you may also need to provide other credentials such as a DBS on your LSI application.
Once accepted onto the LSI National Credentialing Register, you will be issued with a combined MIA/LSI ID card which you should use to register any healthcare provider visits.
The requirements for each Tier of the LSI National Credentialing Register are as follows:
Interaction with healthcare professionals but no interaction or contact with patients or relatives other than in areas open to the general public.
Interaction with healthcare professionals and with patients or relatives in areas where no invasive procedures are taking place.
