Radiology Protection Course (Silver)

This course sets out some of the duties and responsibilities of the hospital, the healthcare workforce and you, the visitor, to ensure that radiology safety is maintained at all times.

  • To gain insight into the hazards of working with ionising radiation.
  • To understand the overarching risks related to ionising radiation and the reduction techniques in use.
  • To ensure safe attendance and use of protective equipment in the presence of x-rays to reduce risks to the individual.
  • To understand the role of the employer as well as the employee, and monitoring of exposure requirements. 

Ionising radiation is regularly encountered in a variety of areas of the modern hospital. It is an essential tool for diagnostic and therapeutic treatments used in healthcare.
It is not without its risks, and this course sets out some of the duties and responsibilities of the hospital, the healthcare workforce and you, the visitor, to ensure that safety is maintained at all times.
